Welcome to Eleanor Buist Veterinary Physiotherapy. A RAMP registered Veterinary Physiotherapist currently offering small animal services in Essex.

What does a physiotherapy session involve?
1
A thorough assessment
The first thing I do in all sessions is conduct a static, dynamic and palpation assessment. I am looking at your dogs conformation, posture, movement and also feeling their muscle mass, muscle quality and joint range of motion. The assessment process helps me identify areas to be worked on including primary issues and areas of compensation.
2
Treatment
After the assessment, I will then proceed with treatment. The treatment is completely tailored to your pet and their needs. It consists of a variety of techniques including manual therapies such as massage, passive range of motion and stretching. Electrotherapies such as laser, pulsed electromagnetic field therapy and thermotherapy may also be used.

Remedial exercises
As part of your treatment programme, some exercises will also be performed and prescribed to help enhance your pets posture and movement.
These exercises can be used to target many things including improved weight bearing, muscle mass, core strength, proprioception and joint range of motion.
